What is The Julian Center?
For 38 years, The Julian Center has been supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises. Their mission is to provide the services victims need to recover and build a life absent of abuse. Those services include counseling, safe shelter, case management, advocacy, education, transitional housing, and affordable housing. Through outreach and consultation, they also seek to educate the community about the issue of domestic violence and its impact on all our lives. Their programs and services are designed to contribute to a significant reduction in the incidence of domestic violence and sexual assault, to support survivors in healing, and to help break the intergenerational cycle of abuse.
How can I help?
It costs more than $10,000 to operate not only the facility, but to serve several thousand additional clients throughout the community. Each month $1000 pays cab and bus fare to bring clients safely to shelter or a trip to the doctors’ office. Last year the Julian Center prepared and served nearly 69,000 meals and snacks making sure all of their clients had warm meals each day. Gifts during the Holiday season make sure that there is a warm, safe bed for women and children who are escaping violence, now and throughout the year.
